It’s easy to get caught up in all the big, heavy BBQ dishes that Summer has to offer: burgers, ribs, brisket, etc. But what about the lighter side? What about the days that are a little too hot to stand in front of a burning grill? When you want something fresher, brighter, and juicier?
Well we’ve got you covered there too. This week we’re bringing you one of our favorite light summer recipes, super fresh but with a kick of that savory BBQ flavor that we all crave this time of year: Strawberry and Bacon Salad! Pair this with our 2017 “Irreverent” Russian River Pinot Noir. Find some shade and let this lovely pairing brighten your day.
Go ahead, take a walk on the lighter side:
Strawberry and Bacon Salad
— Pairs with 2017 “Irreverent” Russian River Pinot Noir —
5 oz butter lettuce and spinach (or your favorite salad mix!)
1 cup thinly sliced strawberries
1/2 cup of walnuts (or your favorite nuts! I also like pecans in this.)
1/2 cup crumbled bleu cheese
4-5 pieces of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup golden balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp ground ginger
- Layer salad ingredients in large bowl.
- Combine dressing ingredients in jar and shake until well blended.
- Mix it all up!
- Open your “Irreverent” Pinot Noir!
- Serve and enjoy!
